The best way to get around in the Maldives is to walk. Male, the capital city, is nearly 2.2 square miles. Moreover, the resort which you will be picking can also be explored on foot. Island hopping in the archipelago nation is one of the best things to do here and it can be done via ferries. You can also choose to commute via yacht if you want luxury and more comfort. After your arrival at Velana International Airport (MLE) on Hulhule Island, a representative from the resort will escort you to the island where you are staying. To reach your final destination, you will have to take a ferry, speedboat, seaplane, or even a combination of them. Some accommodations include this journey in their final package.

On foot

Walking is the best and the most convenient option once you are on your choice of island. Male as well as all the resort islands can be easily explored on foot as these are not so huge.

By yacht

This way is the best way to commute in the Maldives if you are rich and famous! Gliding through the blue waters and providing access to secluded reefs and remote islands. There are many luxurious resorts and hotels that have their own docks for offering complete convenience to seafaring travellers. You can also bring your own yacht as well as a charter one once you get here. You should be aware that tour operators, who are licensed, can take you to islands that are off-limits to tourists.

You can choose to commute in the Maldives via luxurious yachts for discovering the dazzling natural beauty of the island comprising incredible beaches and breathtaking coral reefs. The country is one of the best yacht chartering destinations across the world. It has a total of 26 major atolls containing nearly 1,200 picturesque islands dotted on the Indian Ocean. Of these, only 200 islands are occupied and thus, it is an ideal destination for rejuvenating and unwinding in the truest sense. Here, you can explore serene beaches and swim in the depths of azure clear waters. A good alternative to the Caribbean and perfect for island hopping, the Maldives is a stunning winter charter destination.

You can also choose the option of chartering a private luxury yacht in the Maldives. You can do so by contacting your preferred yacht charter broker. They will help you in planning your travel itinerary and combining your requirements with recommendations about the best time to travel to this gorgeous destination.

If you want to enjoy the outdoor life at sea in the truest sense, then a Maldivian yacht charter is the best way to explore everything the archipelago has to offer. The capital city, Male, is home to a myriad of nice restaurants, busy markets, museums, and beautiful art galleries. You will find lagoons, heavenly beaches, and caves on the more remote islands. The warm waters of the ocean offer ideal conditions for enjoying various water sports. You can whizz around on jet-skis, snorkel, or scuba dive to see the ancient shipwrecks and protected coral reefs.

How to Reach Maldives

By seaplane

Take a ride on a seaplane if you want to reach somewhere in less time. This service can be facilitated by your resort to transport you to and from the airport. This exciting journey will let you enjoy the serene bird’s eye view of the islands and reefs. Therefore, you can do island hopping via seaplane as well.

 Reach Maldives by Sea

By ferry

The network of local ferries is not extensive. These are often late and in some cases, don’t even show up. This mode of transit is not recommended for tourists as it is quite unreliable.

By speedboat

This mode of transfer is considered the best and the most popular in the Maldives. Your resort may book your speedboat transfer while in some cases, you may have to make the arrangements of speedboat transportation on your own. The fare depends on the resort and distance.

By taxi

Some taxis can also be spotted in Male. These are quite useful when you have luggage or are stuck in a thunderstorm. You have the choice of either hailing a taxi or call for one. The usual fare is nearly 20 rufiyaas (about $1.30). Nearly 10 rufiyaas (about 65 cents) is the fee for bags.
